Protecting Our Pharmaceutical Supply

21 03 2011

Thomas Kubic, President and CEO of the Pharmaceutical Security Institute, recently had an article posted on The Hill website. It is a great article called, “Congress Should Lead the Global Fight Against Fake Drugs.”  Counterfeiting is still a huge problem, I wouldn’t have anything to write about on this blog if it weren’t. Recently the Partnership for Safe Medicines posted an article on their website about a California man who admitted to selling counterfeits that were illegally imported from China on Craigslist.com.

I agree with Mr. Kubic and how he urges the Obama administration and congress to continue efforts to strengthen the safety of American’s drug supply and coordinate a global response to this huge problem. He mentions that in order to confront prescription drug theft the administration should move forward with a law by Sens. Chuck Schumer, Jay Rockefeller, Amy Klobuchar, and Sherrod Brown that strengthens penalties and additional tools for law enforcement.

Below is a video with Tom Kubic and Scott LaGanga, Executive Director at Partnership for Safe Medicines, discussing the problem of counterfeiters and online problems. Very interesting video. I would recommend!
