Where the Money is at…

20 04 2011

It is scary that a suburban mother, Sarah Anne Knott of Maryland, has been charged with the sale of counterfeit pharmaceuticals. What is more scary is her response to an undercover “interview” held by a postal inspector back in November 2010. The undercover inspector had an electronic surveillance device to record their little meeting. The 28-year-old woman allegedly told him, “If you really want to make money, um, there is tons more than this.” She said she had access to “humongous bags” of 3,000 or 6,000 pills.

She would keep the pills in a closet up high so that her children could not gain access to them. She told the undercover cops that she could sell thousands of these fake Viagra pills in just a matter of months and that there is plenty more where the ones in her closet came from. At this time authorities are unsure where she got them from.

She was charged with trafficking in counterfeit goods. This is a crime that carried a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $2 million fine. The pills could be purchased on Craigslist for $10 a piece or 20 for $140. According to court documents the pills looked very similar to the real ones with the exception that, during tests from an FDA lab, they only carried about 8 percent or more of the active ingredient found in the real Viagra.

I think I’ll thoroughly convinced to avoid buying drugs online. How on earth can a mother sell so many counterfeit drugs and hold them in her house. Forget viagra, I’ll just eat more watermelon rhine, it does the same thing anyways.
